Technology and Logistics Center handed over to Koja – commissioning phase begins

Koja Group’s new Technology and Logistics Center has been handed over for Koja’s use in Tampere. The new facilities support the growth of the Industrial Solutions business and strengthen technological development in a changing operating environment. The approximately EUR 15 million investment is part of the family-owned company’s long-term commitment to Finland and to developing technology in Finland.

A new level for industrial R&D and testing

The Technology and Logistics Center provides Koja’s industrial business with enhanced capabilities for more versatile product and technology development and testing. The center will focus particularly on research and development in fan technologies, acoustic and material solutions, as well as data-driven development applications.

At the same time, logistics operations in the Tampere area will be centralized into the new premises in close proximity to production, improving supply chain management and operational efficiency.

“With the new technology center, we are better equipped to meet the growing demands of customers and markets in an international operating environment. The new testing and development environments support our work in developing safe and reliable solutions for demanding industrial applications,” says Pasi Lähteinen, Business Director, Industrial Solutions at Koja.

Project delivered through effective collaboration

The construction project was carried out in cooperation with Rakennusliike Lapti Oy, with A-Insinöörit acting as the construction management consultant. Careful planning and professional execution ensured that the project was completed on schedule.

“The success of the project was guided from the outset by open collaboration, mutual trust and shared goals between all partners. Our sincere thanks go to our reliable partners and our own personnel,” Lähteinen adds.

The approximately 3,000 m² facility, designed as a comprehensive Technology and Logistics Center, required more advanced construction solutions than typical buildings. For example, the acoustic management of testing facilities set specific requirements.

The building and the entire property utilize energy solutions based on solar power, geothermal heating, ground cooling and energy recovery. A total of 33 geothermal wells, each 350 meters deep, have been drilled on the site.

The energy-efficient management and monitoring of indoor conditions is enabled by Koja Group’s Wave Solution, which integrates ventilation, heating, cooling and energy recovery. This solution significantly reduces energy consumption while ensuring high indoor air quality both in testing environments and office spaces.

The system incorporates equipment developed by Koja and Chiller and manufactured in-house, such as energy stations and air handling units.

Phased commissioning underway

Following the handover, commissioning will proceed with the outfitting of office spaces and the installation of production and testing environments.

The work will progress step by step, test area by test area, including electrical installations, commissioning of measurement systems and mechanical installations. In addition, area-specific risk assessments and personnel training will be carried out.

“In the coming months, we will be working intensively on building the testing environments, and in the autumn we will be able to present the new capabilities to our customers,” says Lähteinen.

Handover celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony

The handover of the Technology and Logistics Center was celebrated in Tampere at the end of April in a festive May Day atmosphere. The opening event was attended by Koja’s Tampere personnel, owners and project partners. In addition to speeches, the program included a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tours of the new facilities.
