Koja invests in Jalasjärvi – 2,200-square-metre extension to the heat exchanger factory
The family-owned company Koja continues its long-term investments in domestic industrial production and is building a 2,200-square-metre extension to its heat exchanger factory in Jalasjärvi, Finland. Through this investment, the company strengthens production efficiency, logistics, and its readiness to respond to growing demand.
The extension continues long-term investments
Koja’s Jalasjärvi production facility is focused on the manufacturing of air handling units and heat exchangers for buildings and ships. The extension now being implemented will be built adjacent to the heat exchanger factory that was commissioned in 2024 and will cover approximately 2,200 square metres.
“The commissioning of the heat exchanger factory has enabled increased automation in Jalasjärvi production. The upcoming extension investment supports the long-term development of production and ensures that we are able to meet our customers’ evolving needs also in the future,” says Timo Sepponen, Factory Director of Koja’s Jalasjärvi factory.
The family-owned company, which has passed the 90-year milestone, has invested strongly in domestic production and technology development over the past decade.
“Despite the cyclical nature of the construction industry, we have succeeded in increasing production volumes in line with our targets through investments. The outlook for the construction sector is currently relatively short-term, but for the time being sufficient to ensure full employment. At the same time, the volume of air handling products delivered to ships is expected to increase significantly during 2026,” Sepponen says.
The extension supports growth in production capacity
The extension will house heavy-duty, impact-based machining equipment used in the heat exchanger factory, which requires particularly robust foundations and appropriate facilities. The extension also enables future investments in additional machinery.
In addition to significantly improving the durability and usability of the machines, the new space brings greater flexibility to production and logistics operations. The extension will also provide more weather-protected indoor space for the storage of finished products and incoming goods.
“We have confidence in the future, and through this investment as well, we are preparing for future growth,” Sepponen says.
Koja is one of the largest employers in Jalasjärvi, employing approximately 190 people at the site. The extension investment supports the continuity of the factory’s operations and the vitality of the region in the years ahead.
Target completion in 2026
Construction work will begin once the building permit has been granted. The goal is to complete the extension during 2026.
As with the heat exchanger factory, the developer of the extension is ViiSaa Oy, and the extension will be incorporated into the factory’s existing lease agreement.
